Claude connectors: how to connect your apps to Claude

Which apps Claude connects to on its own, where its connectors fall short, and how to add any app to Claude as a custom connector in a few minutes.

Updated

Short answer

Claude connects to apps through connectors. You find them under Customize › Connectors on claude.ai, or in the Connectors Directory. Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Drive and Microsoft 365 are built in, and hundreds of companies list their own. For anything else, you add a custom connector by its address, on any plan. Free allows one.

Connectors vs MCP

MCP (Model Context Protocol) is the open standard, and an MCP server lets an assistant use another app. "Connector" is Claude's name for an MCP server you've added. Directory connectors are listed in Anthropic's catalog. A custom connector is any remote MCP server you add by URL. Both run on the same infrastructure. Claude Desktop also takes desktop extensions, which run on your own computer.

What's missing

  • One account per connector. Claude's Gmail holds one Google account, so work and personal mail can't sit side by side. See how to connect multiple Gmail accounts to Claude.
  • Personal Outlook. Outlook.com, Hotmail and Live accounts don't work with the Microsoft 365 connector. People have asked Anthropic since April 2026. See how to connect a personal Outlook account to Claude.
  • One custom connector on Free. One app added by URL fills it.
  • Settings that stay in Claude. You can block a connector's tools, and Team and Enterprise Owners set each to Always allow, Needs approval or Blocked. ChatGPT and Grok need their own setup.
  • No history across chats. What Claude did is in each conversation, not in one list.
  • A browser tied to your computer. Claude in Chrome needs Chrome open on your desktop. Cowork's built-in browser needs the Claude desktop app open and online.

How Upsy fills the gaps

Upsy is one custom connector that holds your apps, files, memory and a cloud browser. Connect your apps to Upsy once, and Claude reaches all of them through it. On Free, your one custom connector does the work of many.

  • Up to five accounts per app: work and personal Gmail, or two Slack workspaces. Each account gets its own access.
  • One connection for every assistant. Claude's directory already lists most apps, such as Todoist and Airtable. Connect one to Upsy once, through that company's own MCP server, and Claude, ChatGPT and Grok all use it.
  • Personal Outlook through the cloud browser, where Claude reads and sends in outlook.com.
  • Access per app and account: No access, Read-only, Full access, or only the actions you pick.
  • A History of every action Claude takes, and email alerts if it deletes, sends or reads a lot at once.
  • One memory that Claude, ChatGPT and Grok all read. See how to share memory between ChatGPT, Claude and Grok.
  • A cloud browser signed in to your sites, where Claude works in its own tabs while you watch.

Upsy is free for personal use. It has no ads and doesn't sell your data. Claude never receives your app passwords or tokens. It calls Upsy's tools, and Upsy calls the app.

How to add Upsy to Claude

  1. Sign up at upsy.ai and connect your apps on the Apps page.

  2. In Upsy, click Add assistant, and under Which assistant? pick Claude. Copy your Upsy address:

    https://upsy.ai/connect

  3. In Claude, open Customize › Connectors and click Add custom connector. Name it Upsy, paste the address and click Add.

  4. Click Connect next to Upsy. Sign in on the Upsy page that opens, choose what Claude can use, and click Allow.

On a Team or Enterprise plan, an Owner adds Upsy first under Organization settings › Connectors (Add › Custom › Web). Then you click Connect. The full walkthrough, with errors and fixes, is in how to add a custom connector to Claude.
