Short answer

Muse is Meta's personal AI agent. You give it a task, like booking a table, sorting your email or buying something, and it does the work on a cloud computer with its own browser, even after you close the app. It launched on September 8, 2026, for adults in the US and Canada, and reached Japan and Singapore in October. Muse is free up to a weekly usage limit, and the Power ($20 a month) and Maximum ($100 a month) plans add more. You use it in the Muse app on iPhone, iPad, Android and Mac, at muse.ai, or in WhatsApp.

What Muse can do

These examples come from Meta's launch post and help pages:

  • Email and travel: send emails and book trips.
  • Errands on the web: open a browser, fill out forms and negotiate for you, such as lowering a bill or selling a car.
  • Planning: turn a recipe reel you saved on Instagram into a grocery list, or plan a dinner menu around your guests' diets.
  • Shopping: buy things with a one-time card number from Link by Stripe, at stores like Walmart, Best Buy, Sephora and Wayfair. It asks before every purchase (Meta).
  • Reminders: on a schedule or by place, such as "Every Monday at 9am, remind me to submit my timesheet" (Meta).
  • On a Mac: gather invoices into one folder, and read Mail, Messages, Notes and Calendar (Meta).
  • For a small business: work in Shopify, Stripe, QuickBooks and Slack, and on the business's Facebook and Instagram (Meta).

How Muse works

  • Its own computer. Each person gets Muse Secure VM, "a dedicated secure computer with its own browser". Tasks keep running there while your phone is off.
  • A second agent that checks it. Meta's Sentinel agent has to approve anything Muse sends to the internet.
  • Approvals. Muse asks before sensitive actions, like sending an email or buying something. You can answer Allow once, Allow for this task, Allow for this site, Always allow or Deny. Under Settings › Permissions you choose how often it asks (Meta).
  • Memory. One Muse remembers you across chats, in a file called Memory.md that you can read, edit or delete. You can also tell it to forget something.
  • The model. Muse runs on Meta's Muse Spark model. Meta announced a newer family, Muse Wonder, on October 12, coming to subscribers first.

What Muse costs

Plan Price Usage
Free $0 A weekly limit. Meta doesn't publish its size.
Power $20 a month 500 million Muse tokens a week
Maximum $100 a month 3 billion Muse tokens a week

Source: Meta's subscriptions page. You add a payment card to start, even on Free (TechCrunch). Since mid-October you can also buy extra tokens in the app. When you hit the limit, you wait for the weekly reset, upgrade, or buy tokens.

Where you can use Muse

  • Countries: the US and Canada since September, then Japan on October 23 and Singapore on October 27.
  • Age: 18, or the age your country requires (Muse terms).
  • Apps: iPhone, iPad, Android, Mac, muse.ai on the web, and WhatsApp.
  • Glasses: a beta on Meta's AI glasses. You pick Muse instead of Meta AI in the Meta AI app and say "Hey Muse". Music, calls, messaging and navigation don't work with Muse yet (Meta).
  • Windows: Microsoft says a native Muse app is "coming soon", with no date (Windows blog).

Muse vs Meta AI

They're separate products. Meta AI is still in the Meta AI app, at meta.ai, and in WhatsApp, Instagram and Meta's glasses. Since July it runs on Muse Spark too and can do some tasks. Muse is the one with a computer of its own, connections to your apps and a memory, so it can take on longer jobs and keep going while you're away. On glasses, only one of the two is active at a time.

Apps Muse connects to

Meta doesn't publish a full list. Its own pages name Gmail, Google Calendar, Slack, Notion, Asana, Box, Dropbox, Canva, Figma, Granola, Zoom, GitHub, Shopify, Stripe, QuickBooks, HighLevel, Klaviyo, Lovable, Facebook, Instagram, Threads, Apple Health and Android SMS, plus PayPal and Shop Pay at checkout. For any other app, you ask Muse in a chat to add a custom connector. Meta doesn't review custom connectors (Meta).

The full table, and what's missing, is in Meta Muse connectors.

Privacy and safety

  • Ads: Meta says Muse "doesn't share your conversations or the data in your virtual machine with Meta ad systems" (Meta).
  • Training: your chats are used to train Meta's AI by default. Turn off Help improve our AI models under Settings › Data controls, and the change covers past chats too (Meta).
  • Your Meta profiles: if you add Muse to Accounts Center, Meta may combine your data across your profiles (Muse terms).
  • Deleting: you can delete chats and memory, export your data, or reset Muse to wipe it. Meta warns Muse "may still retain information" after you delete something (Meta).
  • Custom connectors aren't reviewed by Meta, so only add ones you trust.
  • Shared chats: Meta paused chat sharing on October 20, after links to about 6,800 shared chats turned up in public DNS records (Ars Technica).

Where Muse stops

  • Sites that block it. Amazon has blocked Muse from Amazon.com since September 20 (Bloomberg). Banks such as Charles Schwab block AI agents that try to move money (Bloomberg).
  • The weekly limit, on every plan.
  • Phone calls. In a test of calls Muse placed for people, some were actually made by people working in a call center, 404 Media reported in September.
  • One account per app. Muse's Gmail holds one Google account, so work and personal Gmail don't fit side by side. See multiple Gmail accounts in Muse.
  • Announced, not here yet: Muse's own email address, plus Instacart and Expedia (TechCrunch).

Use Muse with your other assistants

Muse's connectors, memory and history stay in Muse. If you also use ChatGPT, Claude or Grok, Upsy is one custom connector they all share:

  • Up to five accounts per app, such as work and personal Gmail, each with its own access.
  • Apps Muse lacks, like Jira, ClickUp, Airtable and Fireflies, through each service's own sign-in.
  • Access per app: Full access, Read-only, Pick actions or No access.
  • One History of what every assistant did, and email alerts if one sends or deletes a lot at once.
  • One memory and one signed-in cloud browser for all of them.

To add it, sign up free at upsy.ai, click Add assistant, pick Muse, and paste the prompt Upsy shows into a Muse chat. The full steps are in how to add a custom connector to Muse. Choosing between agents? See Grok Bot vs Muse.
