How to connect multiple Gmail accounts to Meta Muse
Muse's built-in Gmail holds one account. How to connect your work and personal Gmail to Muse at once, up to five accounts, each with its own access.
Updated
Short answer
Not with Muse's own Gmail connector, which holds one Google account. To give Muse your work and personal Gmail at once, connect both to Upsy and add Upsy to Muse as a custom connector. It takes about five minutes, works on any Muse plan, and allows up to five Gmail accounts, each with its own access.
The built-in way
Muse's Gmail connector, in Settings › Connectors, signs in to one Google account. There's no option to add a second, and Meta's connector help doesn't describe one. Testers report the same for Google Calendar and Drive: one Google account each.
What does work natively:
- One Gmail and one Outlook. They're separate connectors, so Muse can hold one of each.
- Switching. You can disconnect one Gmail and connect the other, but Muse then loses the first, and Meta says what it already read may stay in its memories.
- Forwarding. In Gmail, you can forward new mail from one account to the one Muse has, and add the other address under Send mail as. Muse then sees both inboxes in one place. The catch: work mail lands in your personal inbox, which many employers don't allow, and older mail stays behind.
If forwarding works for you, it's the simplest fix. If you want each account kept apart, with its own rules, use Upsy.
How Upsy handles several accounts
Upsy is a remote MCP server, a connector that lets the assistant use another app. You add it to Muse once, and it can hold up to five accounts of each app.
- Each account is its own connection. You sign in to each with Google, and you can remove one without touching the others.
- Each account gets its own access for Muse. For example, Read-only for your work Gmail and Full access for your personal one.
- Muse names the account in each action. Every Gmail tool takes the address to act as. When Muse doesn't say, Upsy uses the first account listed.
- Every assistant shares the same accounts. Grok, ChatGPT and Claude can use them too, each with its own access.
What you need
- A Muse account on any plan, in the US or Canada.
- A free Upsy account at upsy.ai.
- Your Gmail accounts. For a Google Workspace account, your admin may need to allow the app first.
Connect two Gmail accounts to Muse
- In Upsy, open Apps, click Connect an app, then Connect on Gmail. Sign in with your first account.
- Back on Connect an app, the Gmail card now says "Add another account". Click Add account and sign in with your second account. If Google picks the first account by itself, choose Use another account on Google's screen.
- Repeat for up to five accounts. Each shows up as "Gmail · you@example.com".
- If Muse isn't connected to Upsy yet, open Assistants, click Add assistant, pick Muse and paste the prompt into a Muse chat. On the sign-in page, each Gmail account has its own row: untick any Muse shouldn't use, choose full access or read-only for the others, and click Allow. The steps are in how to add a custom connector to Muse.
- If Muse was already connected, each new account starts at Full access for it. Open Muse's page under Assistants to change one, or use Pick actions… to choose single actions for that account.
- Start a new chat in Muse, so it loads the new accounts.
- Paste the memory line Upsy shows under Help Muse remember. It names each account, like "Upsy has my Gmail (me@work.com), Gmail (me@gmail.com)…", so later chats know both.
Check that it works
Ask Muse:
Use Upsy to list my email accounts and what you can do in each.
Muse should name every Gmail address and its access. Then try:
Search both my Gmail accounts for flight confirmations from the last month.
Muse should search each account in turn and say which inbox each email came from. Both searches show in Upsy's History, under Muse.
Telling Muse which account to use
- Name it. "From my work Gmail" or the address itself. Muse passes it with the action.
- Teach it once. Tell Muse "my work email is me@work.com" and let it save that to memory. Or write it in your Upsy memory, which Grok, ChatGPT and Claude read too.
- Replies. Ask Muse to reply from the account the email arrived in. A useful memory line: "When replying, use the Gmail account the email was sent to."
- The default. If Muse doesn't name an account, Upsy uses the first one listed. For sending, always name it.
What Muse can do in each account
The same things in every account you allow: search, read messages, threads and attachments, draft, send, archive, label, mark read, and trash or restore. The details are in how to connect Gmail to Muse.
Access is set per account:
| Access | Example use |
|---|---|
| Full access | Your personal Gmail, where Muse handles bookings and replies |
| Read-only | Your work Gmail, where Muse may search and summarize but never send |
| Pick actions | A shared side-project inbox, where Muse may draft and archive only |
| No access | An account Muse shouldn't touch at all |
Prompts to try
- "Check both inboxes for anything from my kid's school this week."
- "Find the Delta booking. Which of my Gmail accounts is it in?"
- "Draft a reply from my work Gmail to the last email from Priya. Don't send it."
- "Archive this week's newsletters in my personal Gmail only."
- "List unread emails in each account, grouped by account."
Troubleshooting
The second sign-in connects the first account again
Google signed you in with the account it already knew. Click Add account again and pick Use another account on Google's screen, or do it in a private browser window.
Muse only sees one account
Start a new chat: Muse keeps the tool list it got when a chat started. If it still sees one, open Muse's page under Assistants and check that the second account isn't set to No access.
Muse sends from the wrong address
It used the default, the first account listed. Name the account in your request, and save which address is which to memory.
Muse says it isn't allowed to use a tool with one of your addresses
That account is Read-only, or Pick actions without that action, for Muse. Change it on Muse's page under Assistants if you want Muse to do it.
Google blocks the sign-in for your work account
Your Workspace admin restricts third-party apps. Google explains how admins allow one in its admin guide. While Google reviews Upsy's own app, the consent screen names Composio, not Upsy.
You need a sixth account
Upsy holds up to five accounts per app. Open one you no longer use under Apps and click Disconnect.
Security and privacy
- Muse never sees your Google passwords or tokens. Upsy keeps each account's keys and makes the calls.
- History shows every search, read, draft and send Muse makes, in every account.
- Alerts count everything Muse does across your accounts: you get an email if it sends 20 or more emails, deletes 50 or more items, or reads 100 or more emails within 10 minutes.
- No approval step in Upsy. Muse's own Permissions settings decide when it asks first. To be sure Muse never sends from an account, set that account to Read-only.
- To turn it off, flip Muse's switch on Upsy's Assistants page, or disconnect one account under Apps, which deletes its keys and leaves the others working.
