# Inbox to action

> Pull the next steps out of your inbox and turn them into a focused task list.

An Upsy playbook · https://upsy.ai/playbooks/inbox-to-action

To use it: the user adds it in Upsy (Playbooks, Start from a playbook), or an assistant with Upsy proposes this file with playbook_save for the user to accept. Then any assistant they allow loads it with playbook_get and follows it with the user's own accounts.

## The playbook file

```markdown
---
title: Inbox to action
description: Pull the next steps out of your inbox and turn them into a focused task list.
category: Every day
before:
  - How far back to look (the last week if not said)
  - Which Todoist project the tasks go to
boundaries: Reads your email and adds tasks to the project you name. Never replies, archives, deletes or changes an existing task.
result: A short list of tasks, each linked to the email it came from, in your task list.
---
An inbox is a list of other people's requests in no particular order. This turns the ones that need you into tasks, and leaves the rest alone.
1. **Find what asks something of you.** Look through email from the period given for requests, questions and promises you made. Skip newsletters and notifications. :connector[gmail]
2. **Check what's already a task.** Look in the project you named for tasks that already cover any of them. :connector[todoist]
3. **Show the list first.** Write one line per new task, with its due date if the email gives one, and ask the user which to add.
4. **Add the ones the user picked.** One task each, named by what to do, with a link to the email in its description. :connector[todoist]
## Example output
- **Send Dana the Q3 numbers** — due Friday ([email](#))
- **Book the venue for the offsite** — no date ([email](#))
Upsy connects personal AI assistants (Muse, Grok, ChatGPT, Claude, Cursor, Claude Code, Codex, Devin) to your Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Drive, Slack, Notion and other apps through one MCP server, with a shared memory, files and a cloud browser signed in to your sites. You choose what each assistant may do in each app, see everything it did, and turn it off in one click. Upsy is free. To add Upsy to an assistant, add a remote MCP server (Streamable HTTP) named Upsy at https://upsy.ai/connect. It signs in with OAuth; there is no API key.
