# Competitor brief

> Pull together what's public and what you already know about a competitor, in one brief.

An Upsy playbook · https://upsy.ai/playbooks/competitor-brief

To use it: the user adds it in Upsy (Playbooks, Start from a playbook), or an assistant with Upsy proposes this file with playbook_save for the user to accept. Then any assistant they allow loads it with playbook_get and follows it with the user's own accounts.

## The playbook file

```markdown
---
title: Competitor brief
description: Pull together what's public and what you already know about a competitor, in one brief.
category: Research
before:
  - The competitor's name, and their website if you know it
  - What it's for (a sales call, planning, a pricing review)
boundaries: Reads the competitor's public site, your documents and your email, and writes a brief. Never signs up, contacts anyone or shares the brief.
result: "A one-page brief: what they offer and charge, where they win and where you do, with a link to every source."
---
What you know about a competitor is split between their website and what's in your own documents and inbox. This puts both side by side, for the competitor named when you ask.
1. **Read their site.** Their pricing page, what's new (a changelog or blog), and how they describe themselves. Keep each page's address. :connector[browser]
2. **Find what you already have.** Search Drive for decks, battlecards and pricing sheets that mention them. :connector[drive]
3. **Find what people said.** Search email for their name: customers comparing you, deals lost or won. Quote the sentence that matters, with its link. :connector[gmail]
4. **Write the brief.** What they offer and charge, where they win and where you do, what customers said, and what you couldn't find.
## Example output
**Acme** — *Charges:* $12/seat ([pricing](#)). *They win on:* price. *You win on:* integrations. *A customer:* "We're comparing you with Acme on price" ([email](#)).
Upsy connects personal AI assistants (Muse, Grok, ChatGPT, Claude, Cursor, Claude Code, Codex, Devin) to your Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Drive, Slack, Notion and other apps through one MCP server, with a shared memory, files and a cloud browser signed in to your sites. You choose what each assistant may do in each app, see everything it did, and turn it off in one click. Upsy is free. To add Upsy to an assistant, add a remote MCP server (Streamable HTTP) named Upsy at https://upsy.ai/connect. It signs in with OAuth; there is no API key.
