# How to connect Airtable to Meta Muse

> Let Muse read and update records in your Airtable bases, or keep it read-only. How to connect Airtable to Muse in a few minutes.

Updated 2026-10-10 · https://upsy.ai/guides/muse/airtable

## Short answer

Muse doesn't have an Airtable connector. You can add one in a few minutes through Upsy: connect Airtable with your Airtable sign-in, choose which bases to share, then paste one prompt into Muse. Muse then works through Airtable's official MCP server, a connector Airtable runs so assistants can read and change your bases. It works on every Airtable plan at no extra Airtable cost, and on Muse's free plan.

## The built-in way

Airtable isn't in Muse's connector list. Meta's [September 29 announcement](https://about.fb.com/news/2026/09/introducing-muse-small-business/) added tools like Asana, Notion, Shopify and QuickBooks, but not Airtable. Look in Settings › Connectors in case that changes.

For a one-off question, you may not need a connector at all. Meta's [getting started guide](https://www.meta.com/help/artificial-intelligence/1331373868832401/) says Muse can read, summarize and edit spreadsheets you upload. Export a view from Airtable as a CSV, upload it to Muse and ask away. Muse is working on a copy, though: it can't update your base, and the copy goes stale.

For anything ongoing, such as adding records, checking a tracker every week or keeping a CRM up to date, Muse needs live access. Meta lets Muse build custom connectors, but Meta doesn't review them ([Meta's connectors help](https://www.meta.com/help/artificial-intelligence/1687253048996149/)). Upsy gives you the same live access, plus per-action limits, a history of every change, and one connection that Grok, ChatGPT and Claude can share.

## What you need

- **An Airtable account.** The MCP server is on all plans, with no extra Airtable charge. Airtable's normal API rate limits apply.
- **The right role in each base.** Airtable mirrors your permissions ([Airtable support](https://support.airtable.com/articles/9897799762-using-the-airtable-mcp-server)). As an Owner, Creator or Editor, Muse can read and update records. As a Commenter or Read-only user, it can only read.
- **On Airtable Enterprise:** admins can block third-party integrations. If yours does, they allow it in Admin Panel › Settings › Integrations & development.
- **A Muse account.** Muse is for adults in the US and Canada.
- **A free Upsy account.**

## Connect Airtable to Muse

1. Go to [upsy.ai](https://upsy.ai) and click **Set up Upsy**.
2. On Upsy's **Apps** page, find Airtable and click **Connect**.
3. Airtable's authorization page opens. Here you choose which bases and workspaces to share. **Only pick the bases Muse needs.** Muse won't see the rest, whatever access level you give it in Upsy. Then approve.
4. On Upsy's **Assistants** page, click **Add assistant** and choose Muse under **Which assistant?**.
5. Copy the prompt under **Paste this into Muse** and paste it into a Muse chat, in the app or at muse.ai.
6. Muse adds a custom connector named Upsy and shows a link or button to sign in. Open it, sign in to Upsy, and leave Airtable ticked. Choose **Read-only** if Muse should only look.
7. Paste the **Help Muse remember** message Upsy shows into Muse, so it uses Upsy for Airtable in new chats.

To add a base later, change your selection in Airtable's integrations settings ([Airtable's MCP overview](https://airtable.com/developers/agents/mcp/getting-started)). There's no need to reconnect Muse.

## Check that it works

Send Muse: "Use Upsy to list my Airtable bases, then show me the tables in the first one."

Muse should list only the bases you picked in step 3, then the tables and fields of one. If it lists none, see Troubleshooting.

## What Muse can do with Airtable

The tools are Airtable's own. In plain words, Muse can:

- **Find bases** you've shared, by name, and read their tables and fields.
- **Search, list and read records**, and analyze them ("which deals are stuck?").
- **Create records,** up to 10 per request, and **update records.**
- **Read comments** on records, and add comments.
- **Build structure:** create bases, tables and fields, if your role allows it.
- **Interfaces:** read interface pages and the records they show, and create new interfaces and pages. It can't edit an existing interface or add interface filters.
- **Automations:** list and inspect them, create and update drafts, and delete ones that are turned off. New automations start as drafts, and you turn them on in Airtable yourself. Automations with a Script step can't be made this way.

Airtable's docs don't mention a tool for deleting records.

| Level in Upsy | What Muse can do in Airtable |
|---|---|
| Full access | Every tool Airtable gives, within the bases you shared and your role |
| Read-only | Only tools Airtable marks as read-only, like searching and reading records. A tool Airtable hasn't marked counts as one that can change things |
| Pick actions | Only what you tick, for example create and update records, but not change tables or automations |
| No access | Muse doesn't see Airtable |

Set it on Muse's page in Upsy (**Assistants** › Muse). The base picker and the level work together. The picker decides which bases Muse can reach, and the level decides what it may do there.

## Prompts to try

- "In my Wedding base, list the guests whose RSVP is still empty, with their phone numbers."
- "Add these receipts to my Expenses table: date, shop, amount, and category Groceries." (Paste or describe them.)
- "Which leads in my CRM base haven't been contacted in 30 days? Draft a short check-in for each."
- "Mark every task in Home repairs with a due date before today as Overdue."
- "Create a draft automation that sends me an email when a record's Status changes to Done."
- "Find my order confirmations in Gmail from this month and add each one to my Purchases table." (This needs Gmail in Upsy too.)

## Troubleshooting

### Muse says it can't find any bases

You probably didn't share any bases on Airtable's authorization page, or not the one you mean. Add it in Airtable's integrations settings, or click **Reconnect** next to Airtable on Upsy's Apps page and pick again.

### Muse only added 10 of my records

Airtable creates at most 10 records per request. Muse should split a long list into batches by itself. If it stops early, ask it to "continue in batches of 10".

### An interface returns a 403 error

Airtable refuses calls to apps that are still in development. Point Muse at the installed version instead.

### The automation Muse made doesn't run

That's expected. Automations created over MCP start as drafts. Open the automation in Airtable, check it, and turn it on.

### Muse can read but not change records

Check your role in that base. Commenters and Read-only users can only read, whatever level Upsy allows. Also check Muse's level in Upsy: Read-only blocks every change.

### Airtable says the integration is blocked

Your Enterprise admin restricts third-party integrations. Ask them to allow it in Admin Panel › Settings › Integrations & development.

## Security and privacy

- **Two locks.** Airtable's base picker limits where Muse can go. Upsy's access level limits what it can do there.
- **No keys or tokens for Muse.** You don't create an Airtable personal access token, and Muse never sees your sign-in. It calls Upsy, and Upsy calls Airtable.
- **Watch the default.** A new app starts at Full access for every assistant you've added. If you only want Muse to read your bases, set Airtable to Read-only on its page after you connect.
- **History.** Every Airtable call is in Upsy's History under the assistant that made it. That helps when a record changed and you don't know who changed it.
- **Emails.** Upsy emails you when a new assistant connects or a new app is connected.
- **Turning it off.** Turn Muse off in one click on its page in Upsy, or disconnect Airtable on the Apps page to remove it for every assistant.
- **Approvals.** Upsy doesn't ask before each change. Muse's own approval settings decide when it checks with you.

Upsy is free for personal use, with no ads, and doesn't sell your data.

## FAQ

### Does Meta Muse integrate with Airtable?

Not with a built-in connector. You can add Airtable to Muse as a custom connector through Upsy, which uses Airtable's official MCP server.

### Can Muse update Airtable records?

Yes, if your role in the base allows it and Muse has Full access, or "update records" under Pick actions. It creates records 10 at a time.

### Can I limit Muse to one base?

Yes. Pick only that base on Airtable's authorization page. You can change the selection later in Airtable's integrations settings.

### Do I need an Airtable API key or personal access token?

No. Upsy connects with Airtable's sign-in.

### Can Grok use the same Airtable connection?

Yes, with its own access level. See [how to connect Airtable to Grok](/guides/grok/airtable), or browse the [Muse connectors list](/guides/muse) for other apps.

Upsy connects personal AI assistants (Muse, Grok, ChatGPT, Claude, Cursor, Claude Code, Codex, Devin) to your Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Drive, Slack, Notion and other apps through one MCP server, with a shared memory, files and a cloud browser signed in to your sites. You choose what each assistant may do in each app, see everything it did, and turn it off in one click. Upsy is free. To add Upsy to an assistant, add a remote MCP server (Streamable HTTP) named Upsy at https://upsy.ai/connect. It signs in with OAuth; there is no API key.
