# Can Claude book flights and hotels for you?

> What Claude can and can't book today, where it stops at logins and payments, and how to let it work in a browser signed in to your travel sites.

## Short answer

Not from start to finish. Claude can search flights and hotels through travel connectors like Expedia, Kiwi.com and Booking.com, but you finish the booking and pay on their sites. Claude in Chrome, on paid plans, can work through an airline's website in your own browser, but Anthropic doesn't let it make purchases. With Upsy's cloud browser, Claude can do the searching, picking and form-filling on the sites you're signed in to, then you step in to pay.

## What Claude can do on its own

### Travel connectors: search, then a link

Claude's [Connectors Directory](https://claude.com/connectors) has several travel apps. They're good at finding options, and none of them take your money in the chat.

| Connector | What it does in Claude | Booking |
|---|---|---|
| [Expedia](https://claude.com/connectors/expedia) | Searches flights and hotels, with live prices | On Expedia's site |
| [Kiwi.com](https://claude.com/marketplace/connectors/kiwi-com) | Searches flights: one-way, return, flexible dates, any cabin | Search only |
| [Booking.com](https://claude.com/connectors/booking) | Searches hotels, homes and other stays | On Booking.com |
| [Tripadvisor](https://claude.com/connectors/tripadvisor) | Searches and compares hotels, with reviews and prices | Search only |

Booking.com puts it plainly in its [connector docs](https://developers.booking.com/mcp/booking-connector/about): "Bookings and payments do not happen inside Claude." The Expedia, Kiwi.com and Tripadvisor connectors only have tools that search and look things up. Anthropic adds that for any connected app with a booking flow, [Claude checks with you first](https://support.claude.com/en/articles/14730684-how-claude-suggests-connected-apps) and "doesn't transact on its own."

So a good use is: "Find me a nonstop to Lisbon under $600 in the second week of May, and compare three hotels near the river." Claude does the comparing. You click through and book.

### Claude in Chrome: your browser, no purchases

[Claude in Chrome](https://support.claude.com/en/articles/12012173-getting-started-with-claude-for-chrome) is an extension for paid plans (Pro, Max, Team and Enterprise). It works in desktop Google Chrome only, not other browsers or phones. It reads pages, clicks, types and fills forms in your own Chrome, signed in as you.

It can take you a long way into a booking: search, pick a flight, choose seats and enter passenger names. But its [permissions guide](https://support.claude.com/en/articles/12902446-claude-in-chrome-permissions-guide) lists actions it won't take in any mode, including "Making purchases or financial transactions", "Creating accounts" and "Handling sensitive credit card or ID data". So it stops at payment and at passport details. It also needs Chrome open on your computer while it works.

### Cowork's built-in browser

Claude Cowork, in the Claude desktop app, has its [own built-in browser](https://support.claude.com/en/articles/16607400-use-the-built-in-browser-in-claude-cowork) on Pro, Max and Team, and on Enterprise if an Owner turns it on. It remembers your logins between sessions on that computer. The desktop app has to be open and online, and Anthropic advises against using it for financial accounts.

## Where booking gets stuck

- **Logins.** Your airline and hotel accounts hold your loyalty numbers, saved passengers and credits. An assistant without your logins starts as a guest every time.
- **Bot checks.** Travel sites often show CAPTCHAs or "are you human?" checks to automated browsers. Claude doesn't get past these on its own.
- **Passenger details.** Passport numbers and dates of birth are the kind of data Claude in Chrome won't handle.
- **Payment.** Card entry and your bank's confirmation step need you.
- **Prices move.** A fare Claude found can change by the time you pay, so check the total on the last page.

## How Upsy's cloud browser helps

Upsy gives Claude a browser of your own that runs in the cloud. You sign in to your travel sites there once, and the logins stay. Claude uses it through Upsy's connector, from claude.ai, Claude Desktop or the Claude phone app. Nothing runs on your computer.

- **Signed in as you.** Claude books on your airline account, with your saved passengers and points, not as a guest.
- **Its own tabs.** Claude opens its tabs in a group labelled with its name. Other assistants that use Upsy get their own.
- **You watch and take over.** Open **Browser** in Upsy to see the tab live. Click into it at any point to pick a seat yourself, solve a CAPTCHA or enter your card. Claude doesn't pay or solve CAPTCHAs by itself.
- **Your preferences, once.** Write them in Upsy's **Memory**: home airport, aisle or window, bags, loyalty numbers. Claude reads it before it searches, and so do ChatGPT and Grok if you use them.
- **The rest of the trip.** With Gmail and Google Calendar connected to Upsy, Claude can find the confirmation email and put the flights on your calendar.

## Set it up

1. Sign up free at [upsy.ai](https://upsy.ai).
2. Open **Browser** in Upsy and sign in to the sites you book with: your airline, Booking.com, Expedia or others. Do the sign-in yourself.
3. Open **Memory** and write a few lines about how you travel.
4. Click **Add assistant**, pick Claude, and copy the address `https://upsy.ai/connect`.
5. In Claude, go to **Customize › Connectors**, click **Add custom connector**, paste the address and click **Add**. Click **Connect**, sign in to Upsy, keep the cloud browser and memory ticked, and click **Allow**. Full steps are in [how to add a custom connector to Claude](/guides/claude/custom-connector).

## Prompts to try

- "Read my Upsy memory. Then, in my Upsy browser, find a United flight from SFO to Boston on May 9, morning, aisle seat, and stop at the payment page."
- "Use the Expedia connector to compare nonstop flights from Chicago to Denver next Friday, then open the cheapest on the airline's site in my Upsy browser."
- "On Booking.com in my browser, find a hotel in Kyoto under $200 a night for June 3 to 6, with free cancellation. Show me three before you pick one."
- "Find my Lisbon flight confirmation in Gmail and add both flights to my calendar."
- "Check in for my Delta flight tomorrow in my Upsy browser and save the boarding pass details to a file."

## What to expect

- **It's slower than you.** Claude reads each page and clicks like a person. A full booking can take several minutes.
- **Tell it where to stop.** "Stop at the payment page" is a good habit. Upsy has no approval prompt of its own, and Claude's prompts are the check before each step.
- **Check the last page.** Look at the names, dates, times and total before you pay.
- **Some sites push back.** If a site blocks automated browsing or keeps showing checks, finish in the tab yourself.

## Security and privacy

- You sign in to each site yourself. Claude never sees your passwords.
- Upsy's **History** records each page Claude opens and each click, never what it typed.
- Each assistant only gets the cloud browser if you allow it. Switch it off on Claude's page in Upsy, or turn Claude off on the **Assistants** page.
- Keep card numbers out of Memory. Type them yourself when you take over.

## FAQ

### Can Claude book flights for you?

Claude can search flights and fill in the booking, but it doesn't pay. Travel connectors send you to the airline or agency to book. Claude in Chrome won't make purchases. In Upsy's cloud browser, Claude gets you to the payment page, and you pay.

### Can Claude book hotels?

It can search and compare hotels through Booking.com, Expedia and Tripadvisor, and book on Booking.com's site through a browser. Payment is still up to you.

### Can Claude book restaurant reservations?

Claude has a [Resy connector](https://claude.com/connectors/resy) for restaurant tables in the US, and Anthropic says Claude checks with you before it reserves anything. For other booking sites, Claude can work in a browser signed in to your account.

### Can Claude buy tickets?

Not by itself. The StubHub connector searches events and listings but has no checkout tool. Claude in Chrome won't make purchases. In Upsy's browser, Claude can pick the tickets, and you complete the payment.

### Will Claude enter my card details?

No. Claude in Chrome blocks it, and in Upsy's cloud browser you take over and type them yourself.

Upsy connects personal AI assistants (Muse, Grok, ChatGPT, Claude, Cursor, Claude Code, Codex, Devin) to your Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Drive, Slack, Notion and other apps through one MCP server, with a shared memory, files and a cloud browser signed in to your sites. You choose what each assistant may do in each app, see everything it did, and turn it off in one click. Upsy is free. To add Upsy to an assistant, add a remote MCP server (Streamable HTTP) named Upsy at https://upsy.ai/connect. It signs in with OAuth; there is no API key.
